Now, Rory is busy casting off the ropes for this morning’s cruise to Chalon sur Saone. This afternoon enjoy a fun filled drive through the vineyards in colorful traditional 2 CV’s cars! We have a wonderful circuit through the vines. Return to the barge and discover the wonderful and interesting city of Chalon sur Saone.

In the afternoon, relax aboard the Après Tout on its cruise down stream to the attractive town of Tournus where you will be given a guided tour of the historic town centre and its famous 11th century church, vestige of the a great abbey of St Philibert. In the evening you will enjoy a gastronomic dinner at a 1 star Michelin restaurant.
Macon and wine-making in Pouilly Fuissè.
The barge provides the opportunity to savour the beauty of Burgundy and Beaujolais as she cruises the River Saône. This river is particularly important as it links several major waterways providing a through route to the Mediterranean via the Rhône. The barge will continue its gentle cruise to the attractive riverside city of Macon where you will disembark for a short drive through the rolling Maconnais hills and a wine tasting at the Chateau de Chassalas, famous for the production of the delicious southern Burgundy Chardonnay, the world-renowned Pouilly Fuissé.
Montmerle and a Horse and Cart ride through the vines
The cruise continues this morning through the Beaujolais region, this part of the river is so attractive with open fields down to the river where cattle graze with rolling hill side beyond. Our over night mooring is in the small town of Montmerle. After a delightful lunch on the deck you disembark for this afternoons’ visit, which is a charming horse and cart ride through the wonderful hills and vineyards of the Beaujolais. The owner/driver is a real local character and may well invite you onto his terrace for a glass of the local wine!
Vist gastronomic capital, Lyon
We cruise from Montmerle to the fascinating city of Lyon. After lunch aboard we will visit the city, one of the three Roman capitals of Gaul and the second city of France. Lyon is a cultural, historic, gastronomic, and commercial centre, little known outside of France. In the 16th century, Lyon was the heart of the silk industry. Dominating the city is the splendidly ornate Basilica of Notre Dame de Fourvière. The standard of Lyon’s shopping facilities is renowned for its quality and includes many chic boutiques and a market hall devoted entirely to antiques.
The day to day itinerary described here is a typical cruise. However, on any one cruise the moorings may change and the places visited may vary depending on the season and guest preferences.
