Barging at its best and discovering hidden France by jeep. Whilst cruising on a French canal in Burgundy, we were offered the chance to go and explore the wine region off road in fantastic World War II jeeps. What an experience driving along the small tracks and smelling the aromas from the countryside. Stopping in various wine villages, then off again for more exploring. A fabulous time. Barging and the joys of a relaxing cruise on the french canals is just wonderful and especially with the jeep excursion. A great time thank you.

Our French canal cruise along the Burgundy canal, started in a very exciting and interesting way. We approached our first Lock and the look on everybody’s face was of intrigue, how will we ever fit in the space, we cruised closer and eventually slid into the lock with only centimeters to spare. Cruising along the canal taking in the beautiful surrounding’s, French plain trees lined the water’s edge, we sat back and realized that canal cruising in France and especially Burgundy really does have a magical sense. After our first morning cruise along this beautiful french canal, we set off in the luxurious mini bus which was waiting for us at the mooring to drive us to our afternoon visit. Wine lovers will find their heaven along the fabulous route de Grand Crus. As we drove along engulfed by vines and the spectacular scenery, we arrive at our destination, Chateau de Chassagne Montrachet. We were welcomed by Jacquie Morrison, a very well established wine expert and local character. We toured the distilling room and then onto the creme de la creme, a 1000 year old cellar for our wine taste, which in french means degustation. The nectar slid gracefully over our teased taste buds. We sampled various wines which were all in my opinion excellent. At the end of this delightful afternoon we are welcomed back onboard the Apres Tout with warm hospitality from the crew. We untie the ropes and once again we are off for another superb canal cruise along the Burgundy French canal. What better way to spend a day. Well done to elegantfrenchcruises.com for such a superb experience. THANK YOU ALL xx
